Launch of Barrick Accelerator Program for SOMILO local suppliers

On May 16, 2020, Baobab Intelligence & Development (BiD) launched the Barrick Accelerator program for Malian local mining suppliers. BiD helps large and strategic projects grow their local content. We use a data driven approach to assess, support growth and sustainability through helping local private enterprises to be fully equipped with standard business strategies and tools.

This Accelerator program aims to help Barrick’s SOMILO local suppliers grow their business and achieve higher standards of performance through efficiency and innovation.
The accelerator will provide technical assistance in the form of organizational assessments, structuring, trainings, coaching, mentoring, networking and access to finance over a period of 13 months to allow local suppliers improve the quality of their products and services and also identify and develop new market opportunities.
This accelerator program falls under Barrick’s Local Content development strategy. Barrick has shown a big commitment for Local Content development through their human resources localization where they’ve achieved 95% of staff sourced from Mali, their community development programs and today, an accelerator for their local supply reinforcement. This initiative will definitely inspire others in the sector to do the same.
NB: This activity was carried out in full compliance with the barrier measures against COVID19.
